REDUCING TIME TO HIRE BY 33% WHILE IMPROVING RETENTION BY 50% GLOBAL SEMICONDUCTOR COMPANY IN ASIA

CHALLENGE

The company relied on recruitment agencies, they did virtually no Employer marketing and their process had many friction points. What little free capacity HR had was used to fight fires around staff turnover. In short:

Despite increasing sales and hot new products, the company was not growing due to lack of talent and high turnover

APPROACH

We worked with a wide range of senior stakeholders to understand what they really needed in new or replacement Talent. This resulted in a clear Employer Brand that we deployed internally and externally. Supporting this, we identified then minimized “friction points” across the entire candidate selection process producing a quick decrease in the number of candidates who dropped out of the talent pipeline

Seeing that there was seasonal fluctuation in recruiting volume, we provided flexible resourcing involving client-embedded project management with off-site delivery resources that could be increased or decreased as needed.

On-boarding and time-to-productivity were also addressed. Using psychometric profiles, we helped each new employee to understand their strengths and blind spots. For their manager we help them understand the areas in which their new team member was likely to be motivated, areas they would shy away from and the form in which feedback could be most successfully delivered

RESULTS

  • Existing staff

Staff turnover reduced by 1/3rd in the first year and has now dropped to half of its initial rate – a figure that is considered a “healthy rate of turnover”

The introduction of candidates by existing staff went from virtually zero at the outset to about 6% of all candidates and about 12% of successful candidates

  • New hires

The number of qualified candidates entering the recruitment funnel tripled within 8 months

“Job offer and acceptance” rate is now a healthy 4 to 1

“Successful hire” rate (new hires that complete probation) has increased by 60%
